The World Lock is the cornerstone item of Pixelands ownership. Placing one in a world claims that world as yours, granting you full build rights and protecting everything inside from other players.
Overview
By default, any world can be entered and edited by anyone. Placing a World Lock changes that: you become the world's owner, and only you (and players you grant access to) can build, break, and interact with blocks there. The lock also displays your name on the world so visitors know whose land they're standing in.
How to claim a world
- Enter an unclaimed world.
- Open your inventory and select a World Lock.
- Place it anywhere in the world.
- You are now the owner — your name appears on the world and your build protection is active.
Access & rights
- Owner — full control: build, break, manage access, and configure the world lock panel.
- Granted players — can build and break, but cannot manage ownership or access.
- Visitors — can walk and chat freely, but cannot edit protected blocks.
For protecting only part of a world rather than the whole thing, see Area Locks (Small, Medium, Large, and Battle sizes).
World Lock Key
The World Lock Key is a special, tradable "deed" item that transfers world ownership. From the world lock panel, the owner can generate a key for their world. Whoever receives that key in a trade becomes the new owner of the world.
- Trading a World Lock Key transfers ownership to the receiver.
- The key is non-droppable and non-trashable — it can only change hands through trading.
- This makes worlds themselves buyable and sellable between players.
Tips
- Lock your home world early so your builds can't be griefed.
- Grant trusted friends access for collaborative builds.
- Use Area Locks inside a big world to give different players their own protected plots.
